Join us for this one-day, fast-pace Raku kiln building workshop with Brian Nettles. We will start the day with a class discussion about the history of Raku, Raku kilns and glazes. In this hands-on workshop, students will assist in constructing a 5-cubic foot fiber lined Raku kiln. During the construction Brian will be discussing burner sizes, air intakes, exit flues and theories of kiln building. After laying out and constructing the kiln, we will glaze the bisque fired pots (groggy white clay) the students have brought with them to the workshop. Brian will discuss and demonstrate glaze application for different effects. We will load and fire pots that same afternoon with students taking home finished pots.
