Join us in this relaxed, informative, two-day observational workshop as Brian Nettles will be demonstrating the pots he makes on and off the potter’s wheel. For the first day, we will discuss clay bodies, under glazes, and slips he employs in his work for atmospheric kilns. Brian will cover centering, throwing, texture and altering wet forms while still on the wheel. He will also demonstrate techniques to help students make larger forms. On the second day, Brian will work with altering the forms he made the first day assembling altered platters, cups, bowls, and covered jars. He will also show handle making for cups, bowls and jugs, as well as demonstrate different lids for the covered jars, then finish with surface decoration, applying slips and underglazes for the wood/salt kilns. Students will be given time both days to try some of Brian's techniques.
